He Loves Me to Life – Poetry W/Audio

You touch me in places

Foreign to lingering lust

Where blood flows heavy

And veins pump deeper than an oceans rush

You take me over mountains

You make waters flow from some of the driest, emptiest of fountains

Hidden in a dream

You gave me babies to love me and called them queens

You sunk me into life

Long before I became your wife

You pumped love into my veins

And quoted scripture to repair my broken brain

What a tedious job picking locks and whispering through rusted chains

With nothing to gain

You

Loved

Me

You

Loved me

To

Life

    1. Hi Aisha, it started out about a man that seen through my wall I had up from all the frogs I kissed and ended about how God loves (ed) me soooo much more. I have the word wife in the poem and I just haven’t found another word that rhymes to replace wife lol. Poetry is fickle. I really appreciate you visiting my space and commenting ❤️

    1. It’s hard to get to a woman heart, it’s locked up, no man can get in, it’s been broken too many times. Rusted chains just means she hasn’t been touched and not physically but mentally in so long because she’s not open, she’s rusted. It needs to be a calm peaceful whisper but it’s tedious because she ain’t easy. He has to gain her trust and only God can do it man has been incapable ❤️‍🩹 Hope I broke this down. I feel these lines more than I understand them. Sometimes I read something and don’t quite understand but the poet in me feels the words as metaphoric as they may be. Again, poetry is fickle ❤️ I soooo appreciate you! Just the fact that you want to understand means everything!!!! God didn’t want a thing (nothing to gain) He loved me to life ❤️‍🩹
